Any true TaB drinker knows that TaB is better than any cup of coffee (at least tastes better) in the morning. and is a great source of Caffeine.

The following is some background on Caffeine (more than you probably wanted to know) and where TaB stands in the rankings.

Caffeine and TaB

Caffeine is known medically as trimethylxanthine, and the chemical formula is C8H10N4O2  (Check out the Molecular Structure)

Beware, the following contains many facts blended with editorial comments!

Caffeine is a substance that occurs naturally in more than 60 plants including coffee beans, tea leaves, kola nuts and cacao beans.

When isolated in pure form, caffeine is a white crystalline powder that tastes very bitter. The chief source of pure caffeine is the process of decaffeinating coffee and tea (at least coffee is good for something).

Medically, caffeine is useful as a cardiac stimulant and also as a mild diuretic (it increases urine production). Recreationally, it is used to provide a "boost of energy" or a feeling of heightened alertness. It's often used to stay awake longer. Many people feel as though they "cannot function" in the morning without a cup of coffee (in our case TaB).

TaB Can From the beginning... TaB drinker have known TaB is a great source of Caffeine, but as you can see from the following Caffeine Rating Chart, it is not the highest by any means.

It's approximately half of regular coffee and 10th among soft drinks.

From the "I told you so department", many consider Caffeine an addictive drug, it operates using the same mechanisms that cocaine and heroin use to stimulate the brain. On a spectrum, caffeine's effects are far milder than cocaine and heroin, but it is manipulating the same channels and that is one of the things that gives caffeine its addictive qualities.  I'm sure it will be a felony to possess Caffeine some day, but, for know let's all enjoy our TaB.
