One of my many hobbies is Home Automation and AV Systems.

I installed my first Home Automation System in 1985 using a Commodore VIC20 and a home made interface to control lighting and the sprinkler system.  As you will see, I've progressed over the years to more sophisticated controls and systems.

Hopefully you will find the information and links useful?

Drop me an EMail if you want to know more?

Home Automation

I control our home with a HAI OMNIProII Security and Control System along with a Creston PRO3 & LPS2000 Touch Panel.

The OMNIProII system controls over 50 Leviton Lighting Controls (aka:X10) in addition to serving as our security system and HVAC TSTATS.  OMNIProII is controlled by two Consoles (aka: Keypads) as well as a Crestron TPS2000 touch panel.

The Crestron system (a PRO2 Controller and TPS2000 touch panel) also controls the AV System, Motorized Shades in addition tot he OMNIProII.

AV Systems

I'm not an audio file, I just enjoy watching TV & movies and listening to music. I focus more on convenience and the control piece.  This is why I have a Crestron Control System/Touchpad and a Multi-zone Russound audio system which allows use to appreciate our AV content and especially the XM Radio though our home.

Because I'm into Home Automation and Controls in a big way I enjoy using and programming the Crestron System, I'm continuously expanding it's use.  Beyond the Creston and Russound, the AV components are nothing special but do a nice job (See the list below).

We enjoy our Samsung plasma TV immensely, unfortunately we have limited High Definition content from our local cable provider MediaCom (which why the way is horrible!).

I was fortunate that I was able to pre-wire my home with with speaker, CAT5 and RG6 wiring before the drywall went up and was able to design a AV closet that houses all my AV equipment with the exception of the TVs and Keypads.  I would highly recommend the OnQ, Middle Atlantic and Chief products.
