Lake Minnetonka is located 20 miles west of Minneapolis. It's one of the largest lakes in Minnesota at
14,500 acres (22+ sq miles) and with
over a 100 miles of shoreline.
The lake became a significant tourist destination in the mid 1800's,
when Victorian hotels sprung up when the railroads and trolley lines
reached the lake.
