Merry Christmas from New Mexico

The Lundy's wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and Wonderful New Year!  If you haven't heard, Dorothy and I have moved to the Land of Enchantment (aka: New Mexico).  This move was part of an exciting year for the both of us (2006 will clearly go down in the history books as one of our more “thrilling and exciting” years).

Land of Enchantment

The “Adventure” (as Dorothy affectionately referrers to it) started in late spring when I announced my retirement from Target after 30 amazing years.  In or about the same time we purchased a lot (just over an acre) in the Mountains, to the east of Albuquerque.  It’s about halfway between Albuquerque & SantaFe at 7,200 feet elevation; adjacent to the Paako Ridge Golf Course.  My neighbors tell me it’s one of the top 10 courses in America, but it’s wasted on us as we don’t golf "yet".

Dorothy & I had hoped to start our new home in New Mexico and then move; unfortunately (or fortunately depending how you look at it) our home on Lake Minnetonka sold much sooner than we had anticipated.  Considering we were now “homeless”, Dorothy joined me in retirement and we decided to be gypsies down south vs hanging out in the Northland to experience another invigorating winter.

So in late Sept, we packed up our stuff and hit the road.  We were happy to find a home in Albuquerque to rent while our home is being built and we have plenty of room, so I’m declaring the Lundy B&B open.  We hope to be in our new home by late summer or early fall, my builder tells me all good things take time, so we will see?

Lundy Family is now fairly dispersed (regrettably), thank goodness for EMail and Web Cams.  Kristi and Ken Jr's clan still call the Northland home, Kevin lays claim to Germany & Europe, which leaves Dorothy & I representing the splendid mountains and deserts of the Southwest.

Kristi and Matt had an exciting year also, both graduating from UMD in May (we're very proud of both of them)! Their free spirited summer came to an abrupt end, when we announced we are moving and the Lundy B&B was closing. They were both successful in landing jobs…YEA! Kristi followed in her old man’s and brother’s foot steps, choosing to start her management career in retail (I’m sure she will be the CEO of Toys-R-Us in short order). As for the cats, Kristi won the battle of the great minds (between her & her mother) & the Cats still call Minnesota home.

Kevin & Karina joined us for the holidays last year and it was great to see them (Kevin’s developed quite the German accent). While they were here, we all went on a “Road Trip” to Chicago, Ohio and Iowa (Karina was a little overwhelmed by the size of America).  Besides their trip to visit us, the globe trotters also went on a summer holiday to India and sounds like they had a great time (except for a few food related challenges)!  This fall, Kevin was in 7th heaven with his Cardinals going all the way, he was getting up in the wee hours of the morning to watch the game on the internet (Is this a great world or what?).

Ken, Rachel, Sara and Ethan were the steady force in the family last year (no major changes or moves) except for the continuing growth of Sara & Ethan.  Sara is now nine (can you believe it) and Ethan will be five in February.  Dorothy & I miss our friends and family back in the twin cities, but we miss the grandkids most of all (sorry Ken, Rachel, Kristi and Matt). Ken has followed my lead by taking his family on major road-trips (mostly to the west coast). This is great because the "4 Proud Grandparents" live in Albuquerque & Phoenix which is on the way to & from Disneyland.
