I am Kelly Lundy of the south Alabama Lundys. I have always been unsure or my families name origin. I have been under the impression it was Scot-Irish; although I have seen the " e " variation at the end before. My grandfather used to tell a tale of three brothers, his fathers father included, who set out to make their fortune. All had went to different parts of the country. This was years ago, he was born in 1894, I do not know where. Any input would be appreciated.

Well, your site was easy to use, I am not too bright a boy, and I seamlessly went through it. I am not of the "Lundy" family, but rather simply, the "Lunde" family. Hopefully one of these days we shall meet. And once again reunite as one. But until then, be free, and glee.

My Mother's maiden name was Katherine Virgine Lundy. She was born to William and Marie Lundy on May 28.1924. She has three brothers: William (deceased), Jerry, and Tom. She does not have a computer but has an interest in family history. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I will forward any to her via snail mail. I realize, as well as she does that Lundy is quite a common name so if there is no connection, at least we tried. She is quite a special lady so she must be related in some way. Thanks for your time. Hello Ken. We have met earlier in Nordanger. My wife, Reidun Uthaug. Her grandmother was married to Peder Lunde, a brother of your grandfather. In your notes you have her under the name "Tribe Helene Nordheim. " Nordheim is a place, ore maybe more corretst a house in Gulen community located north of Radøy. The name of the place is Byrknesøy. Trine's father was søren Trulsen, born in 1855. And therefore was her originally name Trine Hlene Sørensdatter.

Hi, I see that I'm part of your genealogy database, so I thought I should correct some mistakes. Elin Olsen's middle name is Irene (Elin Irene Olsen). This is my mother, but listed as my father in your database. My last name is Nordvik and not Olsen, same goes for my brother ;) My ex-spouse is called Ingunn Sommerset, and my child is called Sondre Sommerset Nordvik. Well, it is funny what a search on the internet can reveal. Good luck with your database :) Best regards, -Tommy

Have our family traced back to Drury Lundy, born in Chesterfield County, SC, born 1790, died in Amite, MS. We are stuck here. Have info which could place his family from England, Ireland, and/or Scotland. I know about Lundy Burning and Lundy Island. Our line is Drury, Abraham, Charles Pickney and my grandfather, Jayson Smith Lundy. Any information out there would be appreciated.

Till recently, I had no idea Tab was even being made any more. I haven't seen any in decades. You mentioned Aspartame and saccharin, but you didn't say anything about the original sweetener that gave Tab its great taste: cyclamate. Cyclamate was later banned because of dubious testing that showed that rats who consumed more cyclamate than you could ever drink in a lifetime got cancer. I used to drink the stuff like water. It never hurt me. After the cyclamate was removed, and replaced with saccharin, Tab never tasted as good. In Canada, a different formulation with a mixture of sugar and saccharin was introduced, and (besides having more calories) it tasted absolutely vile! One online vendor says on its web site, we're out of Tab, but try Diet Rite instead, it tastes about the same. I don't know if that's true, but if it is, then Tab isn't worth looking for. Most diet sodas, I don't like. You can count on the fingers of one hand all the ones I ever did like. The original Tab was one of them. But I guess that's truly no longer available.

The name Lunde is common in Norway, I believe about 6000-7000 people have it a their surname. The name means holy place among trees, a place or a field where holy actions took place in the pre-Christian ages. The farms and places called Lunde are therefore places where people have been living for a very long time. I live at Lunde in Stryn and am a relative of Isak M. Lunde, who emigrated to USA. Hi, I have a question about a movie. I seen it when i was a kid, early 80's or late 70's, not sure. And I am sure it was Diseny movie. Here is what I can remember. I remember one scene, where there are 2 kids on a roof of a house, seems to be a flood around them. Anyway the kids can't seem to find there parents, which is the basis of the movie. The kid or kids go on a adventure to find there parents. It wasa great family move. If someone can help me with this old request, I would really appreciate it. I can't remember.. Thx

I was wondering if you knew the title of a movie I've been trying to find. It may or may not have been Disney. Made somewhere between 1960-1980 I think. The gist of the story was that this family moved out to an underwater house and the dad was working for a company trying to market them. The mom was a housewife dealing with seals and dolphins coming into the house through a little pool size opening in the floor where they came into and left out of the house by way of a mini sub. Kurt Russell might of been one of the kids but I don't know. The only things I can remember about it is that the bad guy swan up to it and cranked down one of the legs of this underwater house and it started tipping. Also, at the beginning of the movie, when the husband was telling his wife that they were being sent to his company on a vacation to live in this new type of vacation home he said: "???miles off the coast, she said "An Island!", and he said "and ???miles underwater" Can you remember a movie like that or know of a site that could help me? Thanks

G'day Ken - thanks for an interesting site. I'm about the same vintage as you and we're probably (very) distantly related. I heard that my ancestors came to England with Bill the conqueror; their descendants went to Ireland a few centuries later and a little while later emigrated - some to Australia and some to the US - in the 1800s. The last of our branch of the Lundys in Ireland died out in the late 1800s. Bless you - I hope your family continues to prosper.

I asked this question last year and am posting it again in case any newcomers may have the answer. Does anyone remember a Tab commercial from the summer of either 1978 or 1979 that ended with this woman walking/strutting around pointing "number one" with her index finger, signifying the one calorie? The jingle said someting to the effect of "Tab...light...one calorie...". I'm wondering if there are video-caps of this because I'd really like to see it again. That woman used to drive me absolutely wild!

I have begun to trace the Lundy line back five generations. I have several names and a lovely family photo of my Great Grandmother with her seven children. She was married to Edward Lundy whose father was also Edward. He was Irish. People say Lundy could have roots back to Normans who were the original North/Norsemen, hence your Norwegian connection. I am married with four children. The older two are married and from them we have five grandchildren. If you are interested I can give you some names to add to your tree. Sheila.

Hello. My husband is a "Lunde". His grandfather was only 14 when he stowed on a whaling ship from Norway and was first shipwrecked on the coast of Africa; then they traveled on to where they shipwrecked in Florida. He was set by railroad tracks by the Natives, this way someone would find him and rescue him. He ended up in the Boston area. His name was Peter Lunde. My husband's name is also Peter. I was just wondering if you had any relations named Peter in the Boston area, he was married and had 2 sons Peter and David and a daughter named Joyce. If any of this sounds familiar, please let me know. I was hoping to surprise him with a family tree. Thank-you, Mary Frances.

Hello again Ken and thank you for your reaction. I do not know how much you are interested in the family trees for the generations after Marie Lunde and her husband Richerd. However, here are some names for their family. Borghild Kirsten Uthaug born in 1934. She was married with Ingvar Husa, born in 1930. He died in 1994. They are both from Fedje and they lived there. They have 6 children. The next is Torborg Petra Uthaug. She are married with Sigmund Eriksen. Both are from Fedje and they are now liwing i Seattle as you know. They have 5 children. Then came Reidun Marie Uthaug born i 1939. She are my wife. I my self are born in Oslo in 1936. We have two children. Number 4 are Harriet Øydis Uthaug born in 1944. She was married with Erling Kleppe born in 1941. He died in 1989. They have 4 children. Both Harriet and Erling are from Fedje. Then came Margunn konstanse Uthaug born in 1950. Married with Johannes Skjerven from Stord. He also born in 1950. They have 3 Children. And finaly, the boy. Rune olav Uthaug born in 1953. He also have 4 children. If you like to have name for the next generation please send me a mail. Maybe i my self will come back to you with some questions as it seams to me that you know more about the historical family members than me. Have a good time. Bjørn

I didn't look around here too much, so don't know if the origin of the Lundy name info. is already here or not. I got this out of a "book of names" in a local library. Perhaps you may be able to confirm it. The name Lundy is of Norse origin (that much you obviously already know). Lund is a Norse tranlation for the word used to describe the Puffin bird, and 'y' could be thought of as a tranlation of the Norse word 'ey' for Island. So 'Lundy' translates out to Puffin Island. There is a Lundy Island off the (south?) coast of England. Puffin's are known to frequent this Island according to the book. One more thing - GO LEAFS !!!

Hi ,It is good to see the name of Lundy in respectful places and so broadened as it is. Im wondering where my origin is from and what country. God is a big part of my family's life and He (God) has been leading me and my family into the readings of the Ten Commandments and authorized daily reading of scriptures originatening from Israel who is at this time being gathered from all over the world where they have been scattered.I am Apostolic and have 5 children and a dear wife. But the end is near and I feel I and my family are in the gathering. If you have any knowledge of this please E mail me. I am new on the Emails so Ihope you can get through on this if not please retry. Thank you........ D Lundy

Ken,

I stumbled upon this page doing a web search for my wife, Yoko (Kohama) Lien. I am your cousin, Mike Lien, quite possibly viewed as the black sheep of the Lundy family. You've done a great job of the family genealogy. Hope to hear from you soon. I could give you some more generations of this branch of the family.
