Hi thar ye Irish Lundys.

I was handed a book on Irish History and have in my files a section from that book.

I came by the book from a historian when he found out my last name was Lundy.

It seems that Lundy, if I remember correctly, means traitor in Northern Ireland, especially amonst Protestants.

From memory Colonel Robert Lundy, a Protestant, was in charge of the garrison at Londonarry when the Catholics came to take over the town after a Catholic monarch ascended the throne of England. These town changes overs occured with the change of religious persuasian of the English monarchy as I remember the book description and were bloody. Any way Colonel Lundy negotiated a peaceful surrender of the city with the Catholics however by a reason I do not remember the Catholic army had to leave with out taking the city and never again in history have the Catholics occupied the Londonerry Protestant stronghold. After the Catholics left the Protestants went searching for Colonel Lundy to string him up. Under the cover of night he slipped out of the city disquised as a wood chopper.

To the historians this is my memory version of the text. Anyone wanting the text drop me a line and I'll dig it out of my files.

There is a Lundy Lake in the Lundy Valley up near Mono Lake in California a few miles east of Bodie, a famous gold mine town. . The May Lundy Gold mine is also located in the Lundy Valley.

The Lundys had a sawmill in the valley before they found the gold mine. Understand they sold the rights to the mine for 50,000 dollars in 1883. The mine resulted in the town of Lundy being formed for a number of years.

Total extraction from the mine was about 8 million dollars in the 19th century. There is also a Lundy Street in Pasadena.

Yours truely, Jim Lundy

Hi, we live in a tiny village in Norfolk England called Lundy Green. I don't know how it got its name, but some of the farmhouses here date from the 18th century. Elsewhere in the UK there is the more well known Lundy Island, off the coast of Cornwall.

Just ran across your site. Will dig through it when I have more time. Get a kick out of the Lunde/Lundy spellings, since I am in the broadcasting industry and had to change the spelling so the "idiots" would know how to spell it. (Unfortunately, the bills still find Mr. Lunde! Curiously, there are two people with the name "Loren Lunde" in Southern California. I'm in North Hollywood. The other is in Ventura, where my folks lived when they were around, and my brother and sister-in-law still live. Several years ago, we were celebrating my birthday at a Ventura restaurant, and the OTHER Loren Lunde was having dinner there with his family.

Thanks,

My grandmother (my father's mother) was Maxine Lydia Lunde, daughter of Nels Lunde, who came from Norway around the beginning of the 20th century. (He was born Oct. 11, 1889 in sogne, Norway, and married Anita Hillestad on Oct. 11, 1911 in Volga, South Dakota, according to my records.) His father's name was Eric Lunde. I am researching our family history in order to put together a book for my children, and am always interested in learning more!!!

Descendents from the Johannes Stenersen Lunde family of Torpa, Lands, Norway. My great-grandfather, Christian Pedersen Lunde, emigrated to the United States as a 13 year old in 1848. After initially living in Illinois he moved to Zumbrota, Minnesota where he was the third person to settle in the region.

I have an extensive genealogy of the Lunde family and would be happy to share with you if you are related to this family. This genealogy was prepared by Herman Lunde of Alexandria. I acquired it from him in the late 1980's.

Actually, Christian Pedersen adopted by Johannes who married Christian's mother. The Lunde siblings are all half-siblings.

We are very much interested in Lundy Genealogy. We have a grandfather from Finland, married in Minn. somewhere. He later moved to Massoula, Montana. Died in Montana in 1908. Our father Gus Lundy was born in Montana a month or so before his father died. Grandmothers name is Ida, with at that time relatives living in Cokato, Minn. Any information would be helpful. Thank You......Michigan Lundy's

I can't believe how big Sara has gotten! She's so beautiful! I guess I haven't seen her in a long time, since I haven't been back to the good 'ole Disney Store for so long. How is that going anyway? :) Thanks for keeping me updated on Sara's cuteness!!! ~Jill :)
