Fred Rutledge
(My Grandfather,
Mother's Side)

My grandfather was Fred Rutledge,
be believe he was born in 1899 or 1900 and passed away in 1983.
He married Emma Krieger in
Webster City,
IA, they had one child
Marie, my
mother.
My grandfather lived most his life in
Hamilton County, in north central Iowa. I don't believe he had any
brothers or sisters.
He was a carpenter for many years and then moved on to farming full
time on a farm south of
Blairsburg, IA.
After retirement my grandparents moved back into Webster City.
Their passion was fishing and they made many trips to lakes in
Minnesota and Canada over the years. They also spend many
winters in the south, 1st in Florida and then in Arizona.
I have limited information
surrounding my grandfather's background, as he was adapted as a
young child and records were lost (possible at an orphanage).
Recently we found-out that he may have been born on the east coast
and was brought to Des Moines, Iowa on a
Iowa Orphan
Train possible in 1917, his birth name may have been Fred E.
Wells, but this is only a guess.
At this point I don't have any additional information on
his parents (biological or otherwise).
Emma Krieger
(My Grandmother,
Mother's Side)

My grandmother was Emma Krieger,
she was born in 1902 and passed away in 1993 at the age of 91 years
young. She married Fred Rutledge in
Webster City,
IA, they had one child
Marie, my
mother.
My grandmother lived most his life in
Hamilton County, in north central Iowa. She had one
brother Adoph Krieger.
She operated a small diner and popcorn stand in Webster City for a
few years and then moved on to farming activities on a farm south of
Blairsburg, IA.
She also worked in a paint and wallpaper store for several years.
After retirement my grandparents moved back into Webster City.
Their passion was fishing and they made many trips to lakes in
Minnesota and Canada over the years. They also spend many
winters in the south, 1st in Florida and then in Arizona.
Her father was Adolph Krieger and her mother was Josephine
Mary Carpenter. I have done some preliminary research on the
Krieger side and it appears that my great grandfather emigrated from
the Alsace-Lorraine region of France in the early 1900's.
I would encourage you to take a look a David Krieger's Charts and
Reports for an overview of the Krieger side of the family.
Please Note:
I would like to acknowledge many family members for their help and
contributions, especially the contributions of Kathy Lundy, Kathy Myrass and
Ginny Krieger.
You may have noticed that several of the dates are XX'd out, this is to
protect the privacy of living family members. The actual rule I'm
using for XX'ing out the dates is anyone who's birthday is in the last 80 years.
If your a family member and would like the birthday information or you have
found an error, drop me a
