I grew up in
Webster City, on a
small farm in a small town in
Hamilton County in north central Iowa.
I have two
sisters Kathy Ann and Karen Sue. My oldest sister Kathy and her husband Dennis
(Denny) Short who is the Hamilton County Engineer reside in Webster City. Karen, my
youngest sister passed away in January 2001, her husband Lester
Garrett and their youngest daughter (Michelle) also still live in
Webster City. Their oldest daughter (Mande) is married and
they live in the southeast.
My wife Dorothy Ann Collins have three wonderful children, two sons
Kenneth Jr. and Kevin and one daughter Kristine (Kristi). Dorothy and I currently live in Eagan, MN. We have
also lived in Iowa (Ames, Gilbert), Missouri (St. Charles) and
California (Corona).
Our oldest son and his wife Rachel (Rinder)
and their two children (Sara and Ethan) also live in Eagan.
Rachel and her family are from southern California. Our
youngest son lives in Breckenridge, CO and our daughter will be
starting at UMD (University of Minnesota, Duluth) in the fall 2001.
During high school and college I was a
movie projectionist
and a photographer for the local newspapers. This era is when I got
hocked on
trains and railfanning. fell in love with I attended
Iowa State University in Ames, IA, majoring in Electrical
Engineering. This is where I meet my loving bride Dorothy.
After college I started my career in retail and electronics repair in the photo and stereo fields, in 1976 I started
at Target Stores and have been with them every since. I now
work at the corporate headquarters in Minneapolis in the Property
Development area (this is the group who builds, remodels and
maintains the stores).
My father (Harold Lundy) and my mother (Marie
Rutledge), who were both born in Webster City and later married in
same town (follow the links for more history on my parents).
My grandparents on my
father's side (Edvard Lunde and
Severina Sandvik) both immigrated from Norway in the early 1900's
to central Iowa. My grandparents
on my mother's side (Fred Rutledge and Emma Krieger) live most of
there life in Webster City. (follow the links for more history on my
grandparents).
So why is Lundy spelled with a "Y" vs "E"?
When my grandfather immigrated to the America
from Norway he spoke very little English and his name was recorded as Lundy vs
Lunde. The only relatives that spell their last name Lundy are my grandfathers decedents from Iowa. All my other relatives
are from the Lunde side that originated in Norway.

My father (Harold Lundy) and my
mother (Marie Rutledge) were both born in
central Iowa (dad in Webster City) and they were later married in
Webster City in 1947. He was born in 1920 and passed away in
1988. They had three children (Kenneth,
Kathy and Karen).
His father (Edvard Lunde) and mother (Severina Sandvik) had seven children. Dad and his
four
brothers (Randall, Harold Martin, Merlin and Clarence) and two sisters (Mabel and Velma)
were all born in Webster City between 1910 and 1922. Randall,
Clarence, Mabel and Velma all married and remained in central Iowa
or southern Minnesota. Harold Martin died when he was a young
child and Merlin remained single and continued to live in the family
home in Webster City for many years.
My dad served in World War II in the European theatre. He was
a carpenter after the war and then became a foreman at a furniture
distribution warehouse for many years.
In the 50's and 60's we
lived on a small farm outside of Webster City and he farmed in the
evenings and on weekends. Early on we raised sheep, chickens
and pigs as well as had several acres in corn and soy-bean
production. In later years he worked at the county
hospital in the facilities group. We had a travel trailer for
many years and the family enjoyed camping on weekends and the occasional
trip to the mountains in Colorado, once we even made it out to the
west coast and the Seattle area.

My mother (Marie Rutledge) and my
father (Harold Lundy) were both born in
central Iowa (mom in Blairsburg) and they were later married in
Webster City in 1947. She was born in 1923 and passed away in
1992. They had three children (Kenneth,
Kathy and Karen).
Her father (Fred Rutledge) and mother (Emma Krieger) only had one
child. She was an only child and grew up in the town of
Webster City and on a farm south of Blairsburg, IA (which is southeast of Webster City).
My mother worked at the county court house for many years, in the
tax-audit area as an bookkeeper and auditor. Of course she was
also a part time farmer's wife during the time we lived on the farm.
In her later years she fought a very courage battle with MS (Multiple
Sclerosis).
